Producer and DJ Umi Defoort (24) has the K-pop fans against him on social media. The reason is his statement in ‘The smartest person’ Thursday evening. He has acted out there as not a fan of the genre, but according to the fans he was misinformed. In the meantime, channel Vier has removed the controversial fragment from the rerun in consultation with Defoort.

“I actually find the thought behind K-pop very ugly. The K-pop industry is run by three labels, all of which have schools. All those stars are trained to become a star from the age of nine or ten. At the age of seventeen they go under the knife to be completely rebuilt. All of them. All those members of BTS (the biggest and most famous K-pop band, ed.) attended such a school and were artificially put together. Nor is that music written by them. ”

According to them, he has been misinformed. They therefore do not hold back to point this out to him on social media. One with a swearing rant, the other with their version of the facts. One of them posted the message she sent him on Twitter.
“I have no problem at all that this is not your genre, everyone has his own thing of course,” she writes. “But the fact that you bring out the ‘darkside of the kpop’ for national TV, not only disturbs me, but a lot of other Belgian army’s (that’s what the fans call themselves, ed.) also. First, what you said about the three labels is not true. There are many more. Second, they are not ‘cast’, ‘schooled’ and ‘trained’ from the age of nine or ten. Thirdly, they certainly won’t go under the knife. That is one no go and one of the biggest misconceptions in the industry from people who apparently don’t know very much about it. And they are not just put together artificially. BTS auditioned and had three years of training and preparation for their debut. Finally, I would like to inform you that BTS writes a lot of songs itself. ”
That Defoort expressed that criticism while he was wearing sneakers from one of the biggest K-pop stars, was not something anyone else did.
