Four critically endangered Sumatran tiger cubs were born in Poland

The zoo said the tiger cubs were born on July 22. She described the birth as the “closest guarded secret” of the garden.

The newborn tigers are three males and one female. Females dominate in European zoos, so the birth of three males could help balance their population in the zoo, the zoo said in a statement.

The Sumatran tiger is a critically endangered species and at the same time the smallest tiger subspecies. There are only about 400 of them living in the wild, and that only on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, mostly in the Kerinci Seblat National Park.
