At least four civilians, including three children, were killed Tuesday night in a bombardment carried out by the Turkish Army against a town in northern Syria controlled by Kurdish forces, authorities have confirmed.
The Rojava Information Center has indicated that all the victims of the attack on the village of Safoia, located around Ain Issa, belonged to the same family and has detailed that they are a father and his three children. He also added that the couple’s mother and daughter were injured.
The spokesman for the Popular Protection Units (YPG), Siamand Ali, has stated in statements given to the Kurdish television station Rudaw that Turkey was behind the attack. The Syrian Democratic Forces (FDS) have pointed out that the father was 54 years old and that one of the children was twelve years old, without information about the rest of the victims.
The city of Ain Issa is located on the M4 highway, of strategic importance in northern Syria and the scene of a military offensive in October 2019 against Kurdish forces, although a ceasefire was reached days later with the mediation of States. States and Russia.
