Tripunithura ∙ Founder of Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage, eminent lecturer and former senior scientist of CSIR, Dr. Layam Road ‘Sri’ Niwasil. N. Gopalakrishnan (67) passed away. Funeral today at 11 am at Mekara Tulu Brahmin Samajam Crematorium.
His wife is Rugmini, a former BSNL officer. Children: Harish (IT Officer, Bengaluru), Hema. Son-in-law: Anand (IT Officer). He was under treatment for heart disease for a month. He collapsed at his residence yesterday evening and was taken to a private hospital, but he died at 8 pm.
He is noted for delivering long lectures on Indian heritage and thought. He gave thousands of lectures in the country and more than fifty foreign countries. He holds a Master’s degree in Pharmacology Chemistry and Applied Chemistry and a PhD and D.L. in Sanskrit. Authored more than 100 books. Bharatiya Vicharadhara and Bharatiya Ishwarasankalpam are prominent works.
Profound knowledge of scientific subjects, Vedopanishads and Puranas made his lectures stand out. In 1999, the Indian Institute of Scientific Heritage was established in Thiruvananthapuram. Its headquarters was later shifted to Thrissur Kecheri Mazhuvancheri.
Life was a struggle against extreme poverty. He earned money for his studies by working as a priest at Ernakulam North Paramara Temple and as a supplier at Dwarka Hotel.
