VOSS (Dagbladet): The biathlon star has struggled with urinary tract infections for several years. Eckhoff has chosen to be open about the infections on several occasions and no later than August she had to stop running during the Blink Festival in Sandnes due to the ailments.
By then, the infection had gotten so bad that she vomited and even fainted in the bathroom. The nocturnal drama in Sandnes she told about in the podcast “Edge” which she has with teammate Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold.
In the same podcast last week, Eckhoff told of a trip to the gynecologist that led to a somewhat unexpected finding. It should turn out that the 30-year-old has an extra kidney pelvis.

According to NHI (Norwegian Health Informatics) that is, Eckhoff has two exit passages from the kidneys and not one. Symptoms of such problems may include frequent urinary tract infections.
According to the same website, urinary tract malformations are relatively common, and many of them never have any practical significance for quality of life or longevity.
After the surprising discovery, Eckhoff came up with an ever so small invitation in the podcast:
If you are a girl between 25 and 69, you have to go check yourself because then you can find an incredible amount of strange things. You can check if you are healthy or possibly find out that you have an extra body body that I have, the Fossum girl encouraged.
