In the Hilversumse Meent this afternoon an explosive device was found near a house. The Explosives Clearance Service Defense (EOD) has removed the explosive, but is still investigating the site. According to the Gooi and Eemlander it is probably a hand grenade that may even have been armed, but the police do not want to confirm that.
The immediate vicinity of the building on the Distelmeent was temporarily closed. Mayor Charlie Aptroot has had the house closed. This means that no one may use or enter the home without the mayor’s permission. Local residents were evacuated and transferred to a community center.
Meanwhile, according to the police, there is no danger and so everyone is back home.
