Last Monday, Mahesh Patrick (14) and Shaun Emitja (21) were out on a car trip when their car got stuck on its way through a remote area in northern Australia.
After several attempts to free the car, they finally gave up and chose to spend the night with it. None of them had any kind of liquid, so the next day they decided to look for water, writes BBC.

Wrong direction
Patrick and Emitja had pointed out a mountain to go in the direction of, but when they reached the mountain, they realized the mistake. They had gone the wrong way.
“They thought they were going in the direction of the Sandover Highway,” Northern Territory police said in a statement.
Later that day, the two were reported missing after failing to return to Hermannsburg, an Aboriginal community 120 kilometers southwest of Alice Springs.
– We think the last time they may have ingested water was on Tuesday, said Kirsten Engels, acting chief of the Northern Territory police.

– Extremely lucky
The two boys chose to split up, and Mahesh then walked alone for 35 kilometers. Not until Friday was he found after allegedly following a fence south.
“Miraculously, he was found by members of society, who reunited him with his family,” said Engels.
After he was found, he assisted the police in the search for Emitja. The following evening he was also found.
– They are extremely lucky to be still alive. We all know how tough it is out there, Engels said.
After the two were found, they were quickly taken care of by doctors who were to examine whether they had sustained any injuries.

The results of the investigations showed that the two had been extremely lucky, which surprised the acting police chief.
– I can hardly believe that they do not have any kind of injuries after what these guys have been through, she said.

The Australian government encourages people to stay with their cars if they get into trouble. They are also encouraged to bring food and at least four liters of water per. person for each day one is to be out.
