The executive director of the Solidarity Fund for Health (FOSALUD), Carlos Núñez, has verified the 234 establishments where the institution operates. This Saturday, he visited the San Fernando unit, in Chalatenango, fulfilling the commitment to provide conditions for quality health care, on a national scale.
“I can proudly say, mission accomplished. Exactly three years ago, I promised the population and all my colleagues from FOSALUD to reach the 234 establishments that we share with the Ministry of Health or with FOSALUD alone and we achieved it,” said Núñez.
In total, 184 units with FOSALUD services were visited, including 19 where medical and dental care began on weekends and holiday periods. During the tours to the rest of the units, needs were identified that were addressed by the different managements to improve. Some of the interventions carried out were maintenance, retrofitting and remodeling work, to offer better physical and safe conditions for both patients and health personnel.
“What did I try to do with this? Get closer to the needs that existed in the health units, provide immediate support in the week after the visit we made, get to know the population, know first-hand what was happening in each health unit,” said Núñez.
To achieve all the verifications, the director of FOSALUD developed an extensive program of visits together with his technical team to learn first-hand about the health needs in terms of care, as well as the conditions in which the staff works.
The first establishment visited on July 1, 2021, was the Comalapa health unit, in Chalatenango, where the owner made official the start of medical and dental care on weekends and holiday periods. From then on, visits were developed, most of which were scheduled on weekends.
