Forza Horizon 1 and Forza Horizon 2 Online Service Closure Announcement

Turn 10 Studios, the developers of Forza Horizon 1 and Forza Horizon 2, have announced that they will be discontinuing the online service for these two games on August 22, 2023. The decision to close the online service was made in order for the studio to focus entirely on their latest games in the future.

In an announcement shared on their official website, Turn 10 Studios stated that while the single-player experience in both games will still be playable, all online functionality such as matchmaking, leaderboards, and online User Generated Content (UGC) browsing and downloading, including liveries, vinyls, setup settings, and photos, will be unavailable starting from August 22, 2023.

This closure of online features will also impact the Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions of Forza Horizon 2, as well as the stand-alone Forza Horizon 2 Comes Fast & Furious.

However, the developers reassured players that the online feature deactivation in Forza Horizon 1 and 2 will not affect the online feature for Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Horizon 4, and these games will continue to function as usual.

Turn 10 Studios concluded by stating that players who already own Forza Horizon 1 and/or Forza Horizon 2 will still be able to download and access the single-player portions of the game even after the online service closes on August 22, 2023.

This news may disappoint some fans of Forza Horizon 1 and 2 who enjoy the online features, but it also signals the studio’s commitment to delivering the best gaming experience in their future releases.
