Forward with the foam: The Nintendo Switch has sold over 100 million copies

And with that, it has beaten the Nintendo Wii.

Despite component failure It has been proven that a lot of Nintendo Switch consoles have been sold – so many that the little crab has now broken the magic limit of 100 million units sold. That, of course, is an absolutely fantastic figure, and it is only to be congratulated.

It’s in its latest results report as Nintendo reveals that the Switch has sold 103.54 million copies throughout its lifetime, and that figure does not include sales in January and February this year. That’s an impressive number in itself, but also means that it sold more than the Nintendo Wii managed – which stayed at just over 101 million consoles sold – as well as the first Playstation, which landed at 102.5 million.

Now the Switch can instead set its sights on the Playstation 4, whose latest figure is 116.6 million. Sony’s machine, however, seems to offer a fight, as it still sells a lot. It is said that Sony had planned to stop producing PS4 in 2021, but that they will now continue throughout 2022.
