“Forum on the Opportunities and Challenges for Cartagena’s 490th Birthday Celebration”

On June 1, Cartagena will celebrate its 490th birthday. For this reason, The universal In alliance with Fanny Guerrero, Specialized Consulting organized a forum for this May 31 that seeks to promote conversations about the city and the opportunities that exist for it in cultural, tourist and industrial matters.

The forum will be held on the terrace of the newspaper The universal from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will include the participation of social leaders, cultural managers, businessmen, investors, the student community, youth, government officials, union leaders, associations, and the media. Admission is free with prior registration for all citizens.

The agenda
The event will begin with a panel called “Culture as the essence and manifestation of development in Cartagena.” Sacra Nader David, rector of the Bolívar Fine Arts and Sciences University Institution, will have the floor there; Boris García Figueroa, musical artist and cultural entrepreneur; Pedro Miranda Morales, from the Newspapers board of directors and defender of muralism and hip hop; and Ariel Ramos Arango, founder of the Cartagena bagpipe committee and the cultural committee of the El Socorro neighborhood.

This panel will be moderated by Gustavo Cabarcas Montes, cultural manager of the Good Living Corporation and what is sought is to know how culture in its various manifestations can be a forceful axis of development in Cartagena.

The second panel will be held around 6:15 in the afternoon and will be called “A perspective of a sustainable, inclusive and hopeful Cartagena”. There will participate Martha Lucía Noguera, president of Cotelco; Juan Diego Mejía, president of Esenttia; Santiago Mejía Medina, manager of Surtigas; and Leopoldo Villadiego Coneo, urban curator from Cartagena. This panel will be moderated by María Camila Salas, relationship and sustainability manager at Comfenalco.

In this conversation what is sought is to know how Cartagena can evolve in terms of sustainability and at the same time promote its development.

After this, at 7:20 p.m., the director of the “Ángeles Somos” Observatory for Children and Adolescents, Rosita De Paniagua, will give a lecture on this tradition, which is heritage for the city from the perspective of rights from childhood.

Lastly, the discussion “Cartagena epicenter of national impact projects” will be held, with the participation of Alberto Consuegra, Executive Vice President of Ecopetrol; Carlos Rosado Zúñiga, director of public relations for Sacyr and Manuel Vicente Barrera, manager of Aguas de Cartagena. This meeting will be moderated by Fanny Guerrero Maya, executive president of the Caribbean Association of New Energies and Hydrogen.

This seeks to put into context the large projects in which Cartagena is the protagonist: the Dique canal, hydrogen as an energy source and sustainability around water.
