The most affected postal code is 11697 in Breezy Point (Rockaways), which had the highest positivity rate of the five boroughs. In the past seven days, 9.6% of the tests of residents in this area have been positive.

Another Queens zip code, 11416 in Ozone Park, had the second highest seven-day rate (7%); and Tottenville on Staten Island followed closely behind (6.3%).

Mayor Bill de Blasio warned yesterday morning that rising cases and positivity rates could mean Gov. Andrew Cuomo will impose “orange zone” coronavirus restrictions on New York City in the first week of December.

These rules would suspend service in indoor restaurants, close gyms and hair salons again, and impose a new limit of four people per table for grilling.

State officials reported that 2.9% of the 205,000 coronavirus test results received in New York on Thursday were positive, up from 2.7% the day before, The New York Post reported.

In New York City, 3% of tests in the past seven days have been positive, and the five boroughs have registered 1,255 new cases of coronavirus. The updated official figures can be found here.
