About forty complaints were lodged with the Bayonne police station against a sales agent for the Kia Erramuzpe Automobiles chain in Anglet. The dishonest employee was signing leasing contracts to customers who found themselves cheated. The management of the establishment has also taken legal action against its former employee dismissed for serious misconduct.
Confused customers
Thierry is at the end of his rope: like dozens of clients, he was the victim of the crooked salesperson. In June 2020, however, he thinks he has achieved a good deal: a new car with many leasing options for 200 euros per month and the possibility of driving 15,000 kilometers per year. Except that the electronic contract that the employee makes him sign is quite different: no more than 5,000 kilometers per year and no maintenance.
“The big scam”
Thierry falls from above: “We were very quickly directed towards what is called leasing. The salesperson, very friendly, directs us towards an automatic model full of options. We were nevertheless told that we had a limited budget: we do not could not exceed 200 euros including maintenance. So he told us verbatim “No worries about funding”. He told me “You will receive a code on your phone”. Indeed, I received a code on my phone, but I did not know what it corresponded to “. It was then that the dishonest seller would have acted according to Thierry: “He said, “Wait, give me your phone, I’ll take care of it.” “He signed electronically with his own hand on my phone”. Result, instead of 15,000 kilometers per year, including maintenance, he is now in possession of a car “which costs us 195 euros per month, with no maintenance and 5,000 kilometers per year“, barely 400 km per month.
The management also files a complaint
The boss of the offending establishment, Pascal Bonnières, specifies that the salesperson in question “was dismissed for serious misconduct”. The establishment also lodged a complaint with the police, but “80% of the litigious files have been settled” underlines the CEO. According to him, things should unblock for other cases, when the public prosecutor of Bayonne has made a decision.
