Forty beds closed at the Haute Côte-d’Or hospital center this summer

In the North of the Côte d’Or, the emergency services will remain open this summer regardless of the establishments, Semur-en-Auxois, Saulieu, Montbard, Châtillon. But faced with the difficulties of finding replacements this summer, two sites opted for degraded services.

19 closed beds in Montbard between July and September

The Montbard facility will close 19 follow-up care beds from mid-July to early September. These bed closures mainly concern geriatrics. But there will remain a few places in this specialty, including in Montbard. The hospital is reducing its capacity but is not completely eliminating this service.

In Châtillon, half of the beds in general medicine closed in August

In Châtillon, it is general medicine that will be affected by the bed closures. In August, 23 places will be temporarily removed, that is to say half of the beds in this service. The decision was made on Wednesday. Jean-Lou Germain is the president of the association of users of hospitals in the North of the Côte d’Or. For him, these announcements are not a surprise but always a source of concern.

Shortage of nurses and orderlies

To the shortage of doctors is added that of paramedical personnel. For a year, the establishments of Haute Côte-d’Or have been looking in vain for around thirty nurses and as many caregivers. And it is hardly the battalions of young graduates that will be enough to overcome the lack of manpower. In the training institute for nurses and caregivers in Semur-en-Auxois and Châtillon, around twenty places remain vacant for all years combined.
