Fortuna has been the titular partner of the first and second football leagues since the 2018/19 season. Her contract with LFA expires at the end of next June. “I think that a lot of progress has been made in the five years since the Fortuna League. Overall, the product has moved in a big direction, and that slowed us down for a year and a half due to covid,” said Vaněk.
“The questions are directed at how we see the future, whether we are interested in continuing cooperation. In this situation, the answer is not simple. We have more questions than answers. There are two main areas that will make a lot of decisions about whether we continue to cooperate,” said Vaněk.
The start of the Fantasy League is approaching
The first is the selection process. “We are not able to give you an answer today, whether we will participate or not, because it has not been announced. We will continue to make decisions according to the set conditions,” Vaněk said.
“The second area does not entirely concern football, but the current situation in our industry, which is changing very dynamically. We do not know under what conditions we will do business next year. First of all, the amendment to the Gambling Act will be discussed, which will tighten the current regulation. The Czech Republic is already the most regulated country in our business on a European scale. 30 percent,” said Vaněk.
According to media estimates, Fortuna pays almost 80 million crowns per year for the titular partnership. A year ago, the rival bookmaker Tipsport stated that it was willing to contribute 150 million crowns a year and requested a transparent tender process.
