Fortuna Sittard has made its second transfer hit in a short time. Mark Diemers recently left for Feyenoord and Amadou Ciss will also leave the South Limburgers: the French Amiens SC will be his new employer.
Twenty-year-old Senegalese has signed with his new club for four years, Fortuna says through the official channels. Since his contract in Sittard was still running, the number 16 of the Eredivisie may receive a transfer fee: Fortuna does not make any statements about the amount.
Ciss joined the Fortuna ranks after the promotion in 2018 and has since scored six goals and six assists in 34 official games. “Amadou has made great strides in his development during his time in Sittard. He has proved his value to the team in a short time. This next step in his career is a great reward for Amadou and the club,” said ex-head coach and current technical manager Sjors Ultee.
CEO Ivo Pfennings agrees: in his view, Fortuna is on the map after the transfers from Diemers and Ciss. “Amadou and Mark Diemers show this summer that players can develop and grow at Fortuna Sittard,” he says. “This is exactly what we want as a club. We offer young talents the opportunity to develop and make minutes at the highest level.”
