The disciplinary commission of the Slovak Football Association (DK SFZ) fined FC Spartak Trnava with a fine of 35,000 euros, ŠK Slovan Bratislava will pay 20,000 euros. The clubs praise the events of the unfinished and later contemplated Fortuna League derby, which took place on October 17, and the main referee will end it prematurely on the field after the battles of the hooligans of both camps.

Other penalties concern a ban on spectators. Spartak will play the next three home matches without them, only children under 15 will be allowed to enter. Slovan fans cannot travel to the next four matches on the opponents’ pitches. In addition, DK SFZ prohibits fans of both clubs from traveling to each other until the end of the competition year.

The sporting rivalry of traditional opponents in the 161st derby turned into a fight between hooligans, who ran to the lawn of the Trnava Stadium Anton Malatinský and fought among themselves. The rioters left the field after about five minutes of fighting, after which one of them remained lying on the ground. After some time, pyrotechnics began to fly from the Bratislava Slavic sector to the western tribune.

Subsequently, heavy police officers entered the guest supporters sector and pushed them out of the stadium. The game was further interrupted, the players were in the booths and the future of the match was discussed. The head referee Filip Glova finally came to the pitch and showed that the duel will not continue.

At Thursday’s meeting, DK SFZ dealt with the match in connection with organizational failures and fan behavior. His sporting destiny was determined last week by the Presidium of the Union of League Clubs (ÚLK), which, according to the competition rules, approved the contumacy of the duel with a 3-0 result in favor of Slovan. After this verdict, the reigning champion broke away from Spartac at the head of the table for a difference of three points.

Members of DK SFZ heard representatives of Spartak Trnava for about 90 minutes, the management of ŠK Slovan spent half the time on the “carpet” and, unlike its competitors, was willing to provide an opinion through its vice president and general director.

“We answered questions from members of the commission and everything that was required of us. We have never had a problem with the match being played in front of empty stadiums, possibly on neutral ground or only in front of children’s fans, as UEFA does. However, this is a thing of the past, as the match has been contaminated and we respect the decision of the ÚLK. I believe that the punishment from the disciplinary will not be radical and serious for us, as we were not the organizer of the match. They may blame us for throwing flares, but we are not to blame for the spectators entering the playing area. ” stated Ivan Kmotrík Jr.

According to the “white” official, football suffered in the first place through the incidents in Trnava. “I don’t know what more we as a club could have done to prevent something like this from happening. I am very sorry for what happened, because football suffered in particular. And that’s the biggest pity, because we don’t have a lot of such big derby matches in Slovakia, and if we ruin one thing, it’s a huge pity for football, “ he noted Kmotrík ml.

Tuesday’s Committee of the National Council of the Slovak Republic for Education, Science, Youth and Sport also dealt with the events from the match of the 11th round of the Fortuna League in order to increase safety at sporting events. Regarding the wild scenes from the match with the Slavs, Spartak President Peter Macho said he could be inspired by the example of the Netherlands and the situation between fans of Feyenoord Rotterdam and Ajax Amsterdam. “Maybe for some two or three years there could be a ban so that Slavs cannot go to Trnava and vice versa,” he said that the necessary stricter legislation was needed during the transitional period.

With this opinion, however, Ivan Kmotrík Jr. differ. “I don’t see how anyone can say that. I’m horrified at how anyone might think that guests’ fans can’t go to the match. Everything must be done within the organization of the match so that the events of the match in Trnava are not repeated. Let’s not throw it all at the visiting fans, in this case the organization of the home club failed. Why can’t the fans of the guests go to football because of that? As a club, we absolutely oppose it. I can’t imagine that such something would be approved in Slovakia, ” added Kmotrík ml.

Management of ŠK Slovan according to him, he will continue to manage his home matches organizationally. “In less than a month, we will have a home match of the European Conference League with PAOK Thessaloniki and we all know what happened two years ago. We will make every effort to ensure that the match runs smoothly. I believe that the fans will enjoy European football on a level and in a good atmosphere. I am convinced that people do not have to be afraid of us. “
