Fortuna Sittard must fear a departure from Jorrit Smeets. The midfielder of the Limburgers is in the interest of various clubs at the second German level and Smeets himself indicates that he is open to a step higher.
Fortuna practiced against FC Twente on Monday evening (2-1 loss) and that could have been Smeets’ last match in Sittard’s service. “That is a good question of conscience”, says the Limburger with a smile FOX Sports. “I am really enjoying myself at Fortuna, but I do know that there are a number of things going on.”
Clubs on the second German level, including Sankt Pauli, would like to take over the midfielder from Fortuna. A smile plays around Smeets’ lips when he hears the name of that club. “If there is that chance, I will of course consider what I want. I will go for the highest possible goal as a football player, but at the moment I think it is still quiet.”
