Fortuna Düsseldorf can continue to rely on the services of captain Andre Hoffmann. The 30-year-old central defender extended his contract, which expires in the summer, on Tuesday. The second division club did not say how long the new working paper is valid. Hoffmann came to Düsseldorf from Hannover 96 in January 2017 and recommended himself on loan for a permanent commitment. Over six years later, he is among the six longest serving professionals at F95.
“With Andre Hoffmann we will keep one of the most important players in our squad. Andre is a recognized leader. We are pleased that this pillar of our team will continue to be on the field for Fortuna in the future,” said Klaus Allofs, Board Member for Sport and Communication, about the defensive specialist, who has been the team captain since this season.
Hoffmann explained: “The club has become very dear to me over the past few years. I experienced a lot with Fortuna and in the city of Düsseldorf. My daughter was born here and this is where I got promoted to the Bundesliga with Fortuna. I am happy to be part of this association in the future and I will do everything I can every day to achieve our big goal together.”
