19-year-old goalkeeper comes from the Oberliga from FC Kray.
Second division soccer team Fortuna Düsseldorf has signed goalkeeper Leon Klußmann (photo) for their U23 team in the Regionalliga West. The 19-year-old goalkeeper moves from the Lower Rhine Oberliga side FC Kray to Flinger Broich.
Klußmann was trained in the youth departments of Rot-Weiss Essen and Borussia Dortmund. The native of Essen became German A and German B Junior Champion with BVB. Last summer, Klußmann moved up from the Dortmund U19s to the U23s. In the first half of the third division season, however, he did not play and therefore switched to FC Kray in January, for whom he has appeared ten times in the second half of the Oberliga Niederrhein and has not conceded a goal in two games.
Frank Schaefer, director of the youth academy at Fortuna, says: “In Leon Klußmann we were able to sign a very interesting young goalkeeper for our U23s. Leon has a very high potential in the classic goalkeeper game, which is far from being exhausted. He’s also very good at football. But what particularly distinguishes him is his mentality and his particular ambition to develop further.”
