Fortuna Cologne: Fifth access for the Südstadt fixed – 14 departures too

Big upheaval at Fortuna Cologne. The regional league made a cut after the end of the season. 14 departures are opposed to five additions.

The 19-year-old full-back Younes Derbali from the U19 Bundesliga team will run for the professional team of the SC Fortuna Cologne on.

Younes started playing football at SV Neuss. The German-Moroccan found his way to the south of Cologne last summer via SG Unterrath and TSV Meerbusch. Since then he has played in seven competitive games in the U19s and has been an integral part of Fortuna’s U23 premier league team since the second half of the season. There, Derbali provided seven assists in 14 games.

Departures: Seymour Fünger (Hallescher FC), Jannik Löhden (VfB Lübeck), Suheyel Najar (SV Wehen Wiesbaden), Sören Dieckmann, Dimitry Imbongo, Dan-Patrick Poggenberg, Andre Dej, Francis Ubabuike, Mike Owusu, Pascal Itter, Nico Brandenburger, Albin Thaqi , Ismail Harnafi, Batuhan Özden (all destination unknown)

In the 2022/2023 season, Derbali, like Serkan Göcer (FC Homburg 08), Angelo Langer (SV Rödinghausen), Gianluis Di Fine, Tariq-Emad Suleiman (both own U19s), belongs to the squad of the Fortuna Cologne regional league team. As is well known, he is coached by Markus von Ahlen, who will inherit Alexander Ende for the new season.

“Younes has shown what potential he has over the past few months. We are convinced of his ability and believe he is capable of taking the next step in senior football,” says Fortuna’s sporting director Matthias Mink.
