Fortuna Cologne before Münster: Fortuna with two days off and hotel accommodation

On Friday (7.30 p.m., RevierSport live ticker) the top game between Preußen Münster and Fortuna Köln will take place. The guests planned a slightly different preparation this time.

Within seven days, Fortuna Cologne gambled away a great starting position. Instead of continuing to put great pressure on top favorites Rot-Weiss Essen and even pulling away, the Fortunes disappointed across the board.

Against the U23s from Fortuna Düsseldorf (1-1), Bonner SC (1-2) and VfB Homberg, the Cologne team only scored two points instead of the seven to nine planned points. Fortuna is three points behind RWE, although they have already played one game more than Essen.

The people of Essen recently laughed their heads off at the results. You can say that figuratively. Both teams will play hard to win on Friday. A draw doesn’t help anyone – only RWE.

“Of course that was disappointing. But I don’t think that the players underestimated the opponents or had the wrong attitude. We just walked with sticks. Our coach Alexander Ende also emphasized that,” says Stefan Puczynski, sports director of the Cologne. Puczynski explains: “That’s why we gave the guys Sunday and Monday off. Preparations for Münster started on Tuesday. On Thursday we’ll be going to the Münsterland region and staying the night there too, so that we can prepare optimally.”

Not only this fact of the somewhat different preparation proves how important the encounter on Friday is – for both Fortuna Cologne and Preussen Münster. “The Essen team laughed their heads off at the results recently. You can put that in a figurative way. On Friday both teams will play hard to win. A draw doesn’t help anyone – only RWE. We want to win the game in Münster and draw level with Essen and then welcome Rot-Weiss on Wednesday next week,” emphasizes Puczynski.

What will be decisive on Friday against Munster – the quality of your legs or your mental strength? “I think it’s important to have a mix of both. It’s about quality, but also mental freshness. We hope to have done everything to ensure that it’s there again. Hopefully we’ll get the result, a positive result, on Friday see,” replies Puczynski.
