About four years ago, after the payment method crisis between Epic Games and Apple, a very important decision was made for both Epic and Fortnite, the company’s popular game, and both applications were removed from the Apple application store. However, with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) on Friday, the game returned to Apple’s app store in Europe.
With the DMA, Apple was forced to allow app stores to use other than its own App Store app. On Friday, the Epic Games Store was available for download again for iPhone devices in Europe.
iOS 17.6 update must be installed
After downloading the Epic Games Store app, players will be able to access the games within the application. Although the game selection here is a bit limited, productions like Fortnite and Fall Guys seem to attract a real player base to the store. Users in the European Union region will be able to access the store if they use devices that have received the iOS 17.6 update.
Four years ago, in August 2020, Epic Games was sued. Apple sued Epic for avoiding paying commissions for in-app purchases and removed the app from the App Store. Since then, iPhone or iPad users have not been able to play Fortnite on their devices.
Although productions such as Fortnite can be downloaded on Android devices without any problems, gamers now have the opportunity to access the production through both the Epic Games Store and AltStore Pal, another digital store. On the other hand, EU customs also have the potential to spread to countries such as the US, the UK and Australia.
