Fortaleza Announces Break with Organized Fans Due to Episodes of Violence

O Fortaleza announced, this Saturday (30), the breaking of any and all relationships between the club and Torcida Irmandade Tricolor (previously, Jovem Garra Tricolor) and Torcida Unida do Fortaleza (previously, Torcida Uniformizada do Fortaleza). The decision came due to episodes of violence by organized fans, including confusion in São Paulo in the semi-final of the South American Championship, in the game against Corinthians. Fights between organized groups have been a concern for over a year (see chronology).

Through a note, Fortaleza took a position.

As far as Fortaleza Esporte Clube depends, the members of the organized fans identified in the episodes of violence will be banned and will no longer be able to attend club games. We count on the support of the public authorities to carry out the ban and are willing to assist in identifying the criminals , as well as providing any images that collaborate with the process. As a consequence of this measure, ticket sales at the headquarters of the TUF and JGT associations, the licensing of products and any logistical or structural support for the aforementioned fan denominations are suspended. If you are a member of Fortaleza Esporte Clube, the identified criminal will be summarily expelled from membership. The club will also take appropriate legal action to prohibit the use of the Fortaleza Esporte Clube brand by TUF and JGT fans. These fans will no longer be able to use official club symbols, under penalty of fines and appropriate legal sanctions. As of this date, Fortaleza no longer recognizes the institutional existence of TUF and JGT.

The above measures take immediate effect, said Fortaleza.

– We are sure that the true fan of Fortaleza Esporte Clube supports the total and complete break with the aforementioned fans and the banning of those involved from all sports venues – completes the note.

After the game against Corinthians, with a fight in São Paulo, the Public Ministry of the State of Ceará requested the suspension of the use and installation of materials from the Torcida Irmandade Tricolor (previously, Jovem Garra Tricolor) and Torcida Unida do Fortaleza (previously, Torcida Fortaleza uniform) for two matches.

The suspension is for the matches: Fortaleza x Grêmio (September 30) and Fortaleza x Corinthians (October 3).
