“Everyone is stupid for fools,” is a popular announcement from the legendary Forrest Gump movie, which is loved by viewers around the world. The great acting performance of Tom Hanks has a great deal of credit for that. He has received many awards for this role, including an Oscar. Even so, the film did not avoid the mistakes, which the astute viewer will definitely notice.
Tom Hanks began in comedy, where he indelibly inscribed himself in the hearts of the audience. We can recall, for example, Žbluňk or the 1988 film Velký, for which he was nominated for an Oscar for the first time. In the 1990s, he switched to more serious roles. He starred in the Philadelphia drama, for which he had already won the highest award, and a year later again for Forrest Gump.
Even though this film has become a legend, there are mistakes in it that the attentive viewer will not miss. Let’s take a look at them.
Errors in time periods and non-existent logos
At the beginning of the film, Forrest talks about the fact that one of his ancestors founded the Ku Klux Klan. This is followed by a scene with several hooded riders on horses standing on the road. However, there are also tire tracks on that road. However, this was completely unrealistic at the time the Ku Klux Klan was formed.
Another similar mistake is newspapers. Forrest reads USA Today in the film. The film takes place in the 70’s, so it is not possible for anyone to read this newspaper. These newspapers have been published since 1982.
The creators didn’t catch it much even with the aging of certain characters. In the thirty years that little Jenny, Forrest’s love of life, has become a woman. So the school bus driver, who drove Forrest and Jenny to school, didn’t grow old at all. When he drives Forrest’s son, he still looks the same.
In the data, the authors were wrong again in the scene with Dr. Pepper. Forrest drinks this drink when the new year 1972 comes, but the brand was not created until the mid-1980s. So it is not possible for him to enjoy this legendary pepper-flavored cola.
Ageless driver and pointless color change of shorts
The same goes for the Marlboro Miles loyalty program, whose logo has one soldier on his helmet in Lieutenant Dan’s unit. But this bonus system was not offered to customers until the 1990s. Everything takes place in a scene where soldiers are hiding in a ditch.
The penultimate mistake worth noting is the spontaneous change in the color of the shorts. In a scene where little Forrest runs like a little house, he has blue shorts. After a while, however, his shorts are red. In the next scene, they are blue again.
And the last icing on the cake is the death of his fateful wife Jenny. Forrest says she died on Saturday, March 22nd. 1982, but that day was unfortunately Monday.
It may seem trivial to you, but for a film like this that has become a legend for the whole world, the creators should pay attention to the details. The even eye of the viewer often does not miss even smaller details, and the authors then look ridiculous and unprofessional.
