Formula E May Not Be Profitable in the First Year

Jakarta

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said the event Formula E will not be profitable in the first season. Riza makes an analogy with the implementation of Formula E by building a business that takes time to generate a surplus.

“So Formula E or Mandalika and event-event others, it is impossible for the first year to profit immediately, he needs time,” said Riza when met in the Duri Kosambi area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, Sunday (27/3/2022).

Riza stated that Formula E and the Mandalika GP need time to cover expenses. Even so, Riza believes the committee has had a thorough calculation to create a circulation of money in and out.

“Like event yesterday Mandalika and others, it couldn’t in the first year close everything cost there, he needs time. Just like people building a business like Mrs. Dewi’s (Kadin) business, she can’t get the first year’s capital right away closed. He has a count, but it’s a continuation, positive going forward, right? cashflowher,” he said.

Riza also opened up about the target audience Formula E which dropped from 50 thousand viewers to 10 thousand viewers. According to him, the target audience must be adjusted to the capacity of the Formula E circuit area.

“When it comes to why, JakPro can ask. That has to be adjusted. Apart from the problem of still being a pandemic, maybe, secondly, is the location possible. So it must be adjusted to the existing place,” he said.

Even so, Riza admitted that he did not know the ticket rates for Formula E Jakarta. The Gerindra politician stated that in principle, income could be boosted through sponsorship and sales of Formula E tickets.

Incomeit might decrease, but in terms of the number of people, right? In terms of value not necessarily, depending on how much it costs. I don’t know how much it will cost,” he added.

Previously reported, the construction of the Jakarta Formula E circuit continues to be accelerated. Currently the track construction progress reaches 87.9 percent. Monitoring at the location on Friday (25/3), the entire Formula E track has been on the first layer of asphalt. The asphalt on some of the tracks looks still wet.

It is observed that there are still paving activities in several zones. Heavy equipment is still going back and forth into the project area.

The Formula E circuit itself has five zones with a track length of 2.5 kilometers and has 18 corners.

The Formula E Circuit Advisor who is a technical team from the Indonesian Motor Association, Irawan Sucahyono, explained that the Formula E circuit is equipped with: banking or a deliberately tilted trajectory. The slope is up to 6 degrees.

“The asphalt in the construction calculation yesterday was 87.91 percent. This is the first corner, turn 1 is the most interesting. Go at low speed. That’s why there is more asphalt in front, usually a lot of cars are driving. overshoot, miss. That’s why at the end there is security,” said Irawan, Friday (25/3).
