JakPro Director Gunung Kartiko said Formula E was canceled at Monas due to licensing constraints.
“The venue is definitely not at Monas, that’s all cluehim,” Gunung told reporters, Wednesday (6/10).
Gunung said that his party had already found five alternative locations that were also icons of the capital city. However, Gunung still does not want to divulge the five locations.
“So we are looking for the location of the Jakarta icon that really shows Jakarta. There are many, there are five alternatives,” he added.
Gunung said JakPro only prepared the five alternative places. Then, Formula E Operations (FEO) as the promoter will conduct a survey of these places.
The survey will be conducted by the FEO this October. After a new survey, a final decision will be made on the place to be appointed to hold Formula E.
Circuit Options on Reclamation Island
Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said there are several locations prepared to become the Formula E circuit which is planned to be held in June 2022.
Some of them are from Senayan to Pantai Maju on Island D and Pantai Bersama on Island G. Two beaches are located on a reclaimed island in Jakarta Bay.
“Earlier, the Director of Jakpro said it was not at Monas, there are five alternatives that will be checked for the best location. There are various kinds, including in Senayan, at Maju Beach, (Beach) Bersama, and others,” said Riza at the Jakarta City Hall. overnight.
Constrained Formula E license at Monas
The issue of licensing for the implementation of Formula E at Monas had surfaced in early 2020. The Ministry of State Secretariat (Kemensetneg) as the Committee for the Steering Committee for the Medan Merdeka Region had banned Monas from being a Formula E racing venue.
This takes into account the cultural heritage in the Monas area. In addition, there are paving activities that make it impossible for Formula E to be held in the area.
Later, the Ministry of State Secretariat finally allowed it, although with various conditions that the DKI Provincial Government had to comply with in planning the construction of the spectator stands and other facilities, it must be carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations, including Law No. 11 of 2010 concerning Cultural Conservation.
JakPro Project Director Resigns
In the midst of preparations for the implementation of Formula E 2022, Jakpro’s Project Director Sportainment, Muhammad Maulana resigned from his position. He was previously involved in organizing the Formula E car racing event.
Mountain confirmed the news. However, he dismissed the notion that Maulana had resigned over Formula E.
“That’s at the Jakpro level at the Kadiv level, who holds the SBU. So as a Jakpro employee resigning is a natural thing. That’s normal,” he said.
According to Gunung, Maulana’s resignation is like an ordinary resignation submitted by employees to the company. He did not want the news of Maulana’s resignation to be a stir because it was linked to Formula E.
“Don’t be associated with Formula E. He has the right to resign, maybe he has another career,” Mount said.
