Lewis Hamilton is behind the change of Mercedes F1 livery from silver to black before the resumption of the 2020 season, in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Toto Wolff, director of Mercedes F1, reveals that “Lewis is very active in Black Lives Matter.”

This gives an idea of the power of the Briton in his team for many observers, but Wolff wants to minimize this influence: “Daimler’s board of directors and sponsors immediately supported.”
And he denies that it is simply a symbolic gesture: “Good beliefs are not enough if we remain silent. We therefore want to use our voice and our platform to campaign for respect and equality.”
Wolff admitted that women and minorities are largely underrepresented on the team and promised to do something but for any hiring there will always be the same motto: “we will not set quotas, but we set targets”.
