Formula 1 | Verstappen advocates ‘education’ to fight racism

It was expected: Max Verstappen was questioned about the racist remarks made by Nelson Piquet against Lewis Hamilton. Indeed, the Red Bull driver shares his life with Kelly Piquet, Nelson’s daughter, and it was likely that the question would not be long in coming.

The 2021 world champion thus denounced the comments made by Piquet, but also by Juri Vips, whom Red Bull dismissed for the same misdeeds. The Dutchman responded by recalling that it was important to educate the new generations to make these behaviors disappear.

“Generally, all over the world, it’s not just in F1. It’s not right to use those words, and it has to start from education these days, at a younger age. at home, at school, you have to learn that these things cannot be said or used” said Verstappen.

The driver wanted to reiterate his commitment to fight against all forms of discrimination, supporting Hamilton and Formula 1: “That’s what we’re working on, F1 is working on it with Lewis, for the future, and all the drivers are behind it. We all support it.”
