Thanks to Verstappen’s victory and Sergio Pérez’s 4th place, the Red Bull team secured the overall championship in the Constructors’ Cup early. Verstappen has already earned an unattainable lead in the current standings and a second world title by winning the previous race in Japan. In the United States, he took his 33rd career win. The point for the fastest lap goes to the Briton George Russell of Mercedes.

Sainz started from pole position, but lost it in the first few meters when he was unable to react to Verstappen’s prompt departure. The Ferrari team’s disappointment over Sainz’s missed start was compounded when Russell bumped into the Spaniard on lap 1, who ultimately received a 5-second penalty.

For Sainz the race is over. Verstappen took the lead, with Hamilton’s Mercedes and Russell out of breath. On lap 18, Bottas retired after failing to keep a single spot on the track and exiting the dirt area.

Four laps later, Alonso tried to overtake Stroll on the straight, but crossed his line and the Spaniard was catapulted into the air after the impact. Stroll was unable to continue the race with his car, Alonso was able to return. After the start of the safety car, the order was Verstappen – Hamilton – Pérez.

The Dutchman returned to the pits for the second time on lap 36, but the mechanics delayed him too much and returned to the track behind Leclerc. They both had several close fights shortly thereafter, after which Vestappen was in a better position. On lap 39, Vettel was in 1st place, aiming for one of ten points bars, but his plans were ruined by a 17-second pit stop on lap 42.

Hamilton moved into the lead ahead of Verstappen and Leclerc. The winner was decided on lap 50, in which Hamilton lost a spectacular fight to Verstappen. He did not let himself be carried away by the victory and increased his advantage at the top of the overall standings.

Three events remain until the end of the 22-part F1 series. The next one will take place on October 30 in Mexico, there will also be a race in Brazil and the season will end on November 20 after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in the United Arab Emirates.

Votes (source: Sport 2):

Max Verstappen, winner: “This victory means a lot to us. At the start of the race it looked very good, then the situation got complicated for us. Emotionally it was a very difficult week for us, as Dietrich Mateschitz (owner of the Red Bull team) recently passed away. I dedicate this victory to him. After driving to the limit in the pits without success. We wanted to win in style and I think we did. This is a great track for overtaking and I think the public enjoyed the race too. ”

Lewis Hamilton, 2nd place: “Fantastic crowd, probably the best of the season. Great credit to our whole team who worked hard. We also had a very good strategy today which led to this result.”

Charles Leclerc, 3rd place: “I started from 12th place, so the podium is a good result. Our tires were destroyed, especially the first sector was very difficult. I’m very lucky to drive for Ferrari. I’m having a lot of fun. In the next race ( in Mexico) we will try to go all the way “.
