Mercedes (here world champion Lewis Hamilton) tries to help, provides plans for a ventilator.

The fight for the start of the World Cup, the freezing of components and the hot discussions about the budget ceiling from 2021 will not let the F1 circus come to rest.

Short-time work also in May?
Short-time working will be introduced at the Alfa-Sauber plant in Hinwil, where over 500 people are employed. But the workforce in the Zurich Oberland had already been prepared that it could take longer.
–
All factory halls are still closed. The official shutdown of the FIA was extended by a further 14 days (to a total of 35).
–
Thank you Mercedes
Mercedes had been working intensively on the construction of ventilators for the English government in recent weeks (like Red Bull). Now the plans for the production of the devices for other companies were even put online for free!
–
Finally, positive news – thanks to the series world champion. Also reasonable the statement by Silberpfeil team boss Toto Wolff: “It would be great if we had a season start in autumn.”

Formula 1 is waiting for the Tour de France
But France, where the coronavirus already killed over 10,000 people on Wednesday morning, has not yet canceled its race on June 28th. People want to wait for the Tour de France (June 27th to July 19th) to be decided! On the tour, over 80 percent of the drivers come from six countries that are still deeply in crisis: Spain, Italy, France, England, Belgium and Holland.

Employees and suppliers are trembling
The real victims in Formula 1 will remain the employees and suppliers of the ten teams, even with the biggest austerity measures that are finally to be initiated. Hundreds of livelihoods are at stake here.
–
How do you want to save now? The homologation of the chassis is decided by the end of 2021. That saves around two million francs. But the teams want more. To do this, more of the approximately 20 proposed components would have to be frozen.
–
That should be frozen
BLICK technology expert Michael Schmidt: “This includes all crash structures, the transmission, the front and rear suspension, the wheel carriers, the hydraulics, the rims and brakes. Aerodynamics and coolers are excluded. »
–
And how does this savings program continue? If the totally controversial Formula 1 were finally agreed, each team could select two of them from the list of 20 components, which would then be free to develop. The rest of the car would be frozen by the end of 2021.

Steer clear of the car in 2022
Then from 2022 the “new” cars with a technology revolution and 18-inch tires (previously 13) will come. Work on these cars is no longer permitted until the end of the year.
