Berlin (dpa) – According to media reports, Formula 1 must prepare for a season start in Bahrain. Contrary to what was planned, the first of 23 races of the record season is not expected to take place in Melbourne.
Because of corona measures
The reason for this should be the measures in Australia to combat the corona pandemic. It is assumed that, as with the delayed Australian Open in tennis, all those involved in Formula 1 would have to go into a 14-day quarantine after entry.
The Australian Formula 1 executives want to try to find a new date later in the season, as reported by “autosport.com” and “the-race.com” on Monday. There was initially no official confirmation of the plans. The Australian race is actually planned for March 21st, a week later it is Bahrain’s turn according to the previously published race calendar.
In the coming season Mick Schumacher, son of Formula 1 record world champion Michael Schumacher, will celebrate his debut in the motorsport premier class. He will drive for the American team Haas. Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will compete for Aston Martin after leaving Ferrari.
