Sergio Perez will have to deal with a new temporary race engineer from the Dutch Formula 1 Grand Prix at Zandvoort, with his current race engineer Hugh Bird set to go on paternity leave.
Bird will, however, be present at Zandvoort this weekend, supervising Richard Wood, who will replace Perez as race engineer.
Wood has 11 years of experience at Red Bull and will temporarily step down from his role as performance engineer, with simulator performance engineer Richard Cooke taking over from Wood.
Wood and Cooke are expected to take up their temporary roles for the next four Grands Prix, including the night race in Singapore from September 20-22.
Perez is in the midst of a pivotal moment in his Formula 1 career as he battles to retain his seat at Red Bull. He was in a poor run before the summer break, scoring just 28 points from eight races, prompting speculation he could be replaced by Daniel Ricciardo after the Belgian GP.
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner and advisor Helmut Marko instead gave Perez a reprieve, giving him the next round of races to improve.
The Mexican can, perhaps, relax a little knowing that two of the next four races will take place at circuits he particularly likes, namely Baku and Singapore, two places where he has stood on the top step of the podium.
