Formula 1 has been broadcast in Austria since 2021 on both the public channel ORF and the private channel ServusTV operated by Red Bull. The country’s two official television stations share the Grands Prix.
It was officially announced on Tuesday what this split will look like in the 2023 Formula 1 season. ServusTV receives the lucrative opening GP in Bahrain, which takes place on March 5, while the season finale can be seen on ORF. The first Grand Prix broadcast by public service broadcasters is the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on 19 March.
Formula 1 2023: Austrian GP on ORF and Servus TV
After the Australian GP returns to ServusTV, a double ORF meeting in Azerbaijan and Miami follows before the European start of Formula 1 at Imola and the Monaco GP returning to broadcaster Red Bull. The Spanish Grand Prix can be seen on ORF and Canada on ServusTV.
As in previous years, the Austrian GP will be broadcast simultaneously on both channels. In the summer months and in the second half of the season the channels continue to alternate, so that at the end of the year both ServusTV and ORF have a total of twelve Grand Prix broadcasts.
ORF broadcasts the classics in Great Britain, Hungary, Italy and Japan, as well as the return of the GP of Qatar, Mexico and Abu Dhabi in the autumn. ServusTV instead broadcasts the Formula 1 races in Belgium and the Netherlands in the summer months after the Austrian GP. Added to this are Singapore, the US GP in Austin, Brazil and the premiere on the streets of Las Vegas.
