With a new livery for the W11, Mercedes wants to set an example in the fight against racism and discrimination. The car will be used for the first time next weekend at the late start of the season in Spielberg, Austria.

Mercedes is repainting the racing car to the worldwide “Black Lives Matter” movement. Hamilton and Mercedes want to send “a strong message” and “give others the confidence” to “start the dialogue themselves”.

“We want to build a legacy that goes beyond sport,” said Hamilton, who will team up with Valtteri Bottas throughout the 2020 season in black. Hamilton is the only black driver in Formula 1 and has already faced racism.
