Formula 1: Huge surprise after 15 years! This car brand is back | sport

… suddenly Toyota is back in the world Formula 1.

Out of nowhere, the Haas team announced that they were entering into a technical partnership with the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota.

Banger!

15 years after its withdrawal, Toyota is back in Formula 1.

In 2009, the brand left the premier class of motorsport after a total of eight years – among others, the two Germans Ralf Schumacher and Timo Glock drove for the world’s largest car manufacturer. During these years, the team only reached the podium 13 times – their best result of the season was fourth place in the constructors’ championship. Too little! Get out and never see you again. Think!

The new deal involves Haas and Toyota “sharing expertise and knowledge as well as resources” through the motorsport and development division Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR), according to the official press release.

Nico Hülkenberg’s (37) team is currently in the lead (The German will be moving to Team Sauber at the end of the season, which will be racing as Audi from 2026) in 7th place in the constructors’ championship – but they are only 3 points behind the Red Bull junior team Racing Bulls.

Haas are THE positive surprise of the season, the team only lagged behind last season.

With Toyota behind them, Haas (which already has a collaboration with Ferrari) wants to climb further up the ranking of the major Formula 1 teams.

“I am very pleased that the MoneyGram Haas F1 Team and Toyota Gazoo Racing have entered into this technical partnership,” says Haas boss Ayao Komatsu. And further:

“Having a global leader in the automotive industry supporting and collaborating with our organization while seeking to develop and improve its own technical and engineering expertise – this is simply a partnership with obvious benefits for both parties.”

However, it remains to be seen how quickly the collaboration will bear fruit. The next race will take place next week, on October 20th in Austin (Texas).
