The discussions just don’t stop. The World Cup final in Abu Dhabi continues to heat hearts. Now Lewis Hamilton’s younger brother joins in. Nicolas started on Instagram: “The FIA has broken its own rules. It’s a shame for our sport.”
In his words, the 29-year-old alludes to the controversial safety car decision of the World Motorsport Federation. Shortly before the end of the race, the FIA allowed the lapped drivers to lap back. However, only after Red Bull boss Christian Horner intervened by radio.

The role backwards meant the end of his title dreams for Hamilton. Because his World Cup competitor Max Verstappen had an unbalanced advantage when he restarted on the fresher tires.
Hamilton had to let the Dutchman pass and lost the World Cup after all. Despite the bitter defeat, Hamilton congratulated his opponent fairly a few minutes after the end of the race. A fact that makes Nicolas particularly proud. His brother had shown “great professionalism and dignity” in the defeat, “even though we all know that he was disappointed in the sport to which he gave so much,” said Nicolas.

Formula 1: Hamilton brother hands out against doubters
The 29-year-old also highlights the behavior of his father. “My father, who raised us, congratulated Max and his father Jos. People can say what they want, but this gesture from my father proves that the doubters and haters are wrong. It proves who we, the Hamiltons, really are are.”
Even if for Nicolas his brother is the “real champion”, he finally pays Verstappen respect: “He had a great season.”
