Formula 1 fired Ecclestone

Bernie Ecclestone is no longer related to Formula 1. This was reported by Liberty Media, which owns the commercial rights to the racing series.

Over the past three years, Ecclestone served as Honorary Chairman of Formula 1, and the actual management was carried out by Chase Carey. As it turned out, now Bernie did not even have a nominal position in the World Cup. The owners of Formula 1 reported this after an 89-year-old entrepreneur said that racism can be more often found on the part of blacks than on white people.

“At a time when unity is so necessary in the fight against racism and inequality, we express a categorical disagreement with the words of Bernie Ecclestone. His comments have no place in Formula 1 and in our society, – said in an official statement Liberty Media, published immediately after the appearance of an interview with Ecclestone.

Mr. Ecclestone has not played any role in the World Cup since he left Formula 1 in 2017. And his post of honorary chairman was nominal and ceased to operate in January 2020. “

Previously, Liberty Media did not attempt to disown Bernie Ecclestone and never reported that the post of honorary chairman no longer exists. Failure to renew the agreement with Bernie is equivalent to the dismissal of the Briton, as it does not imply his further work on Formula 1.

In the absence of Ecclestone, Liberty Media launched a campaign to promote equality of different races. As part of this campaign, each team will put a rainbow on their fireballs, and information boards with anti-racist messages will be installed on the racetracks.
