Formula 1 | F1 still has the ‘green light’ to race in Austin

The US authorities have decided to clarify the situation regarding the holding or cancellation of the next US Grand Prix.

The Covid pandemic had hit Austin and its region hard several weeks ago, and the situation remains worrying five weeks before the expected arrival of the great Formula 1 circus.

Austin Mayor Steve Adler has given the green light for the Grand Prix to be held, even though the Texas government has the final say.

“So far, we have the green light too. However, we are in constant contact with health authorities and experts at the University of Texas. The priority is to ensure the safety of people.”

“Variants of the virus will be with us for a while and we have to learn to live with them.”

On the FIA side, no cancellation in sight: “The current situation is that we will go to Austin.”

Circuit of the Americas race organizers, however, asked Formula 1 to send as few personnel as possible to the race. This is why Formula 3 has already been moved from Austin to Sochi.
