Formula 1 continues to grow in the Netherlands | Motorsport

sport">Worldwide, an average of 87.4 million people watched a Formula 1 race in 2020. That is comparable to the number of viewers in 2016 to 2018. In 2019 the number was 4.5 percent higher. According to the sports scientists, this has everything to do with the special season with ‘only’ seventeen races, only in Europe and the Middle East.

sport">The figures also show why the Formula 1 and motorsport federation FIA are so happy with the Dutch fans. Compared to the year before, the viewership market in the Netherlands grew by 28 percent. Also in China (43 percent) and Russia (71 percent) there were many more viewers. Germany (five percent), the United Kingdom (ten percent) and even the United States – albeit with 1 percent – made ‘profits’.

sport">In total, 1.5 billion people watched a Formula 1 race in 2020. In 2019 there were 1.9 billion, but then four more Grand Prixs were held. The Hungarian Grand Prix was the best watched last year with 103.7 million viewers.
