In Formula 1 things are regularly high. Almost every race there are discussions – between drivers, between team bosses or between entire racing teams. The relationship between many Formula 1 drivers is not necessarily the best.
But now a Formula 1 driver confirms the rumors about a Whatsapp group of all twenty drivers. In this, disputed scenes and rules should be discussed, among other things.

Formula 1: Russell founder of the group
Logically, the drivers in the grid also frequently exchange ideas off the track. Sometimes nicer, sometimes more serious. And sometimes in a Whatsapp group. This was confirmed by Mercedes driver George Russell last year. He is also the one who initiated the whole project. All twenty riders are part of this group. As a result, things get really busy there, says Russell. “There are occasions, for example if something happened on the route, where people suddenly post memes or something else and the whole thing gets a bit out of control,” the Briton hinted in the podcast “The Fast and The Curious”.

The profile picture of the group already shows that the Formula 1 stars are also happy to have some fun. There is not a racing car, a track or any other neutral motif, but a picture of the legendary Formula 1 driver James Hunt. In his time, he was considered an absolute powder keg, which caused as much fuss off the track as on the slopes.
But the group can also be pretty tough. Ex-Haas driver Nikita Mazepin revealed after his Formula 1 exit that George Russell is said to have removed him from the group on the same day. So the Russian didn’t seem to have been all that popular.
Norris gives more details
McLaren driver Lando Norris elaborated on the details raised by colleague George Russell. “It’s not that we’re all buddies, it’s not a friends group. It’s more about exchanging rules and news and advising on one or the other thing. It’s more of a question: how do we want to present ourselves as drivers together?” the Briton explains. When asked who would use the group most actively, the 23-year-old replied: “Pretty much everyone a little bit. Everybody writes a little there.”
More news:
A large joint Whatsapp group of all twenty Formula 1 drivers, in which one or the other meme and one or the other fun is exchanged. A harmonious idea that is probably not always so peaceful with the characters. Still a funny story. And apparently it’s also useful when the drivers are discussing important topics and content.
