The Belgian Grand Prix, the 12th event of the F1 series, ended prematurely due to bad weather. The track commissioners postponed her start several times, but the track was not safe even after almost four hours. The winner was the Dutch Max Verstappen from Red Bull, who won the qualification before the second British George Russell from Williams and his compatriot Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes. The first ten competitors finally won half a portion of the points in the overall ranking.

During the trip to the starting grid, Sergio Peréz from Red Bull did not manage the wet track, crashed into a tire barrier and damage to the monopost would not allow him to start under normal circumstances.

However, the race commissioners moved the start itself several times due to rainy weather, which gave Perez’s mechanics time. After the warm-up lap, in which the riders followed the safety vehicle, the start was postponed again, and after the rain intensified, another shift occurred. Meanwhile, Red Bull mechanics managed to repair Perez’s monopost and the Mexican could start from the pits.

After waiting for almost four hours, the riders started the race behind the safety vehicle. Finally, they completed two laps behind him and then saw red flags, which meant the interruption of the race. Nikita Mazepin drove the fastest lap, but as he did not place in the top ten, he did not get any points for it. Shortly after the interruption, the race directorate definitively closed the Belgian Grand Prix. The next F1 races are scheduled for the week of September 5 in the Netherlands.
