Among the names participating with the Moroccan Wydad Casablanca team to win the African Champions League title in the 2017 edition, which came at the expense of Al-Ahly after winning with an unanswered goal in Morocco, where the first leg, which was held at the “Burj Al Arab” stadium, ended with a score (1-1 ).
Jamal Ait Ben Yedder was able in the season (2017-2018) to bring everything together with Wydad, so the most prominent event was to obtain the African Champions League title and combine the local double by winning the League and the King’s Cup.
Ait had many experiences, the most important of which was with the Wydad team, starting from the (2015-2016) season, to continue the company of the Moroccan giants until the (2018 – 2019) season, and from which came the transfer to the Moroccan sports team Al-Fath last summer.
“Yallakora” contacted the 36-year-old to talk with him about his opinion of the last match between Al-Ahly and Wydad, which was decided by the Egyptian champion by double, in addition to knowing his opinion about the ability of the Moroccan champion to re-compete after the Casablanca strike.
Here are the details of the dialogue as follows:
How did you see the last match between Wydad and Al-Ahly?
Al-Ahly was a global team in the full sense of the word, in my opinion there is no star player in this match, everyone was up to the responsibility and that is why Al-Ahly succeeded in beating Wydad with this result.
– Do you think the value of Wydad has been affected by the absences?
Certainly, the situation was difficult within the Wydad team, whether Salahuddin Saeedi was infected with the Corona virus, in addition to the absence of the distinguished defensive duo Sheikh Kumara and Ashraf Dari for a long time due to injury.
Can Wydad achieve a surprise from Cairo and beat Al-Ahly?
The situation is now different due to the first-leg result, but Wydad still has the chances of running for the final match.
– Back to the (2017) version, how was your confrontation against Al-Ahly?
Playing the CAF Champions League final in general is the most important thing for a player, and winning it is the best moment. In my opinion, the Champions League final against Al-Ahly is the most important moment for me with Wydad.
Is Al-Ahly different now from the (2017) final?
As I mentioned Al-Ahly is a global team, Al-Ahly has a great advantage, which is that it does not rely on a player only, the whole team is a star, and that is why I consider Al-Ahly to be one of the strongest continental teams.
– What about Al-Hussein Amota’s letters to you before his final signing (2017)?
What distinguishes Amota in the first and second matches is that it took the pressure off the team. I remember during his lecture before the match, he told us to play your offensive ball and enjoy the atmosphere of the final.
– During your career, whether in France or Morocco, which match was the best for you?
My best match was against Al-Ahly in the group stage of the 2017 edition, at the time we beat them with two goals without a response. Wydad played a more than wonderful attacking ball and we controlled the course of the match completely.
As for the situation now, and according to the results of the semi-final first leg, who is the closest to getting the Champions League?
After the Corona virus, circumstances differed, but what I saw in terms of level, specifically from Al-Ahly and Zamalek, the hero will be difficult to determine, as the levels are close and each team has advantages.
