The former White House expert on Russian affairs has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin is very hopeful for Donald Trump’s victory in the next US presidential election.
“Putin knows very well how to manipulate Trump and hopes that with his help it will be possible to conclude peace in Ukraine on the issues raised or imposed by Russia,” says Major Jānis Slaidiņš in the TV24 program “Actual about the war in Ukraine”.
The slide reminds that Trump has also said that when he is elected the president of the United States, the war will end. He is skeptical about this statement by Trump, because Ukraine is unlikely to agree to it.
“Right now, the Russians are attacking, Putin has defined his goals, and now we certainly cannot talk about any negotiations,” explains Jānis Slaidiņš.
