Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon warns that Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley could become former President Donald Trump’s running mate in 2024.
Haley, who is a former governor of South Carolina and a former UN ambassador, has gained increasing support among American voters and is now tied with Florida governor Ron DeSantis in second place in the polls.
In line with Haley’s growing popularity, several have aired thoughts that she could become Donald Trump’s co-candidate if the former president wins the primaries.
Bannon, who was Trump’s chief strategist at the beginning of his administration, warns against Haley becoming part of a possible Trump administration, predicting that if Haley becomes vice president in a new Trump administration, it would “fail.”

– We will have a big match, and it will take place in the spring. They are going to try to force Nikki onto the list, says Bannon in an interview.

“A viper”
Bannon believes that Haley will be given too much power as vice president.
– If Nikki Haley is in this administration, in whatever capacity, it will fail. She is a viper. She is a viper. And once she gets in, she will try to manage it as prime minister. She wants to try to be Dick Cheney. She and Trump will be like Dick Cheney and Bush, says Bannon.

Dick Cheney, who was George W. Bush’s vice president from 2001 to 2009, has been called “the most powerful vice president we’ve ever had.”

Cheney was central to Bush’s decision to go to war against Iraq after the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, which were carried out by the militant Islamist group al-Qaeda, writes Newsweek.
Encounters resistance
Bannon is not the only one of Trump’s allies opposed to having Haley as the former president’s running mate.
Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. recently said he will “do everything to make sure” Haley does not join his father’s campaign.
At the same time, political commentator Tucker Carlson has said, referring to a Trump-Haley candidacy:

Asked at a campaign event whether Haley would accept an offer to become Trump’s vice president, she avoided answering directly, saying, among other things:
