“Former West Sumatra Police Chief files appeal at DKI Jakarta High Court in drug case sentencing”

DKI Jakarta High Court has received the filed appeal former West Sumatra (West Sumatra) Police Chief Inspector General Teddy Minahasa related to drug cases. There are 5 judges who will try Teddy on appeal. The following is the composition of the panel of judges.

PT Jakarta Binsar Public Relations official Pamopo Pakpahan said that the chairman of the panel of judges who will try Teddy’s appeal is Sirande Palayukan with the member judges being Mohammad Lutfi, Teguh Harianto, Yahya Syam, and Sumpeno.

“The panel of judges handling the criminal appeal case on behalf of Teddy Minahasa P. has been appointed chairman of the panel Sirande Palayukan, (members) Mohammad Lutfi, Teguh Harianto, Yahya Syam, Sumpeno,” Binsar told reporters, Tuesday (30/5/2023).

Binsar said that currently the case file was being examined and studied by the judge. For this reason, said Binsar, the trial schedule for reading the verdict has not yet been determined.

“Currently the case files are being examined and studied by a panel of judges consisting of 5 people, so that until now the trial schedule for reading the verdict has not been determined,” he said.

It is known, at the first level, Teddy was sentenced to life in prison. Teddy was found guilty in a drug case, namely exchanging methamphetamine evidence with alum.

“At trial, stated that Defendant Teddy Minahasa has been proven legally and convincingly guilty of committing a crime,” said chief judge Jon Sarman Saragih when reading out the verdict at the West Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (9/5).

“Sentenced a sentence against Defendant Teddy Minahasa with life imprisonment,” he added.

Teddy Minahasa was found guilty of violating Article 114 paragraph 2 of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics juncto Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.

For information, Teddy has filed an appeal against a life sentence in prison for the panel of judges at the West Jakarta District Court in a drug case. Apart from Teddy, the other defendants namely AKBP Dody Prawiranegara and Linda Pudjiastuti will also submit an appeal.

The following is a list of Inspector General Teddy et al’s sentences in drug cases:

1. Teddy Minahasa was sentenced to life imprisonment
2. AKBP Dody Prawiranegara was sentenced to 17 years in prison
3. Linda Pudjiastuti was sentenced to 17 years in prison
4. Kompol Kasranto was sentenced to 17 years in prison
