Jakarta –
Former West Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Teddy Minahasa brought up his position from 2013 to 2022 when reading a memorandum of defense or plea for drug cases. Teddy claims that he got this achievement naturally, without collusion and nepotism.
This was conveyed by Teddy in a plea hearing in the Kusuma Atmadja room, West Jakarta District Court, Thursday (13/4/2023). At first, Teddy said he joined the Indonesian Military Academy because his parents could not afford to pay for college.
“Then in 1990 I graduated from high school and immediately took part in the selection to enter the Indonesian Military Academy because I was sure that my parents would not be able to finance me to the next level of education or study at a university. Thank God, I was declared to have passed the Indonesian Military Academy selection and entered the Police Force or Academy. The police in 1990 too,” said Teddy during a hearing at the West Jakarta District Court, Thursday (13/4/2023).
“I went through all the educational processes at the Police Academy for 4 years with full responsibility and discipline, because I was well aware that I did not come from a family of officials, not from a family that could afford it, or not a general’s child. In Javanese, I am just Kawulo alit or little people,” he added.
Teddy later said that he had held a number of positions in the National Police. He said all the positions were obtained without collusion and nepotism.
“I naturally accepted the series of positions without me using collusion and nepotism,” said Teddy.
Teddy admitted that he was surprised at being accused of selling methamphetamine in order to get Rp 300 million from the sale. He claims it is impossible to destroy a career for Rp. 300 million.
“Your Honors, with my struggle to achieve this career, is it possible that I will damage and destroy it just for the Rp. 300 million that has been accused of me in this case?” he said.
