This is news from the state court of Georgia, in the US. The trial this time was a historic trial, because it was the first time a former president was on trial and was broadcast live on television.
Reported by Reuters and CNN, Tuesday (15/8/2023), there are a total of 13 of these latest charges. But this is not the total number.
In total, there are 91 charges against Trump, including the 13 most recent charges, plus 34 charges in New York and 40 charges in Florida. Several additional charges were announced last month, but did not provide a number. Wow, that’s a lot!
The other charges against Trump in this case also include several additional charges, such as allegedly making false statements and asking the Georgia Speaker of the House and Georgia Secretary of state to violate their oaths of office in December 2020 and January 2021.
The charges related to Georgia’s 2020 election are one of four criminal cases — two federal and two state ones — that Trump is currently facing.
Another case in New York was filed by a Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, who found 34 counts related to an alleged hush money scheme paid to a porn star ahead of the 2016 election.
Another case relates to the finding of secret documents at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago luxury resort in Florida, USA. Special attorney Jack Smith has filed a total of 40 charges against Trump in the case, in which Trump was charged with wrongfully handling classified US government documents.
