Former President of the United States (US) Donald Trump surrendered to Fulton County, Georgia. Trump was immediately arrested in the case US election.
Reported by CNN, Friday (25/8/2023), Trump is being held in the Fulton County Jail. He was detained along with 18 other defendants. Trump is listed as being 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 215 pounds (96 kilograms). He is also noted to have blue eyes with blond hair.
This arrest was confirmed directly by Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat. He said all 19 defendants in the Georgia election subversion case would undergo the same process as other criminal defendants in the region.
“Including fingerprints and taking photos,” he said.
Nevertheless, members of Trump’s team told CNN today that they are still unsure whether the former president will be photographed.
Like several of the other 18 defendants who have turned themselves in in prison, Trump’s process through the facility is likely to be completed quickly. The reason is that the former president and his lawyers negotiated his consent bond agreement on Thursday.
As part of the order, Trump agreed to bail of $200,000 and other release terms. This includes not using social media to intimidate the accused and witnesses in the case.
US election case
As is known, Trump and 18 people were previously charged with criminal attempts to interfere in the presidential election in Georgia. Trump is accused of committing a criminal conspiracy to overturn the state’s 2020 US election results.
The case stems from a phone call on January 2, 2021, in which Trump urged Georgia’s top election official, Brad Raffensperger, to find enough ballots so Trump could reverse his narrow loss in the state. Raffensperger refused to do that.
Four days later, on January 6, 2021, and two weeks before Trump left office, his supporters stormed the US Capitol. The raid was one effort to prevent lawmakers from certifying Biden’s victory.
