Former US Coach Bruce Arena Resigns from New England Revolution Amid Investigation into Inappropriate Language

NEW YORK (AP) – Former US national team coach Bruce Arena has resigned as coach of the New England Revolution club due to an investigation into “inappropriate language”.

Major League Soccer suspended Arena on July 30 due to the investigation. The 71-year-old Arena had been employed by New England since 2019. “I know I have made mistakes. This was not an easy decision for me, but I believe it is best for New England Revolution and my family that we part now.”

Arena was national coach of America for two periods. He managed the team from 1998 to 2006 and from 2016 to 2017. He reached the quarter-finals with the US at the 2002 World Cup.
